Accommodation Testing:
Accommodations for:
- Preschool, Kindergarten through grade 12 through psycho-educational, speech and language and other evaluations
- College Students for both undergraduate and graduate programs. Accommodations include services such as on site tutoring, extended time, separate testing location, a reader, course substitution, waiver and a scribe during class sessions and tests.
Accommodations for standardized tests and examinations such as the:
- LSATs
- GREs
- GMATs
- SATs
- Bar Examination
- Certified Public Accountancy Exam (CPA)
- Other State Examinations (New York State Teacher Certification Examinations/NYSTCE, licensing exams for professionals, etc)
Testing is tailored to the specific requirements of each standardized testing committee and generally includes a:
- 1. Cognitive measure such as the Stanford Binet-5 or the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS-III).
- 2. Academic or educational measure such as the Woodcock Johnson Academic Battery-III (WJ-III) or the Wechsler Individual Achievement Test-II (WIAT-II).
- 3. A visual-motor measure such as the Visual-Motor Integration (VMI) Test or the Bender-Gestalt
- 4. A reading measure such as the Nelson Denny Reading Test when indicated
- 5. Social-emotional measures such as to assess anxiety, ADHD/ADD, depression, etc., whenever necessary. Becks Anxiety and Depression Inventory, SCL-90, The Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory-III (MCMI-III) and Conners and Brown ADHD/ADD Scales are commonly used when indicated
- 6. Accommodations for the workplace such as paid disability, extended deadlines and timeframes for projects, and waivers.
- 7. Reduced rates for CUNY College Students as per contract with the City University of New York
Therapy, Counseling
- 1. Therapy is offered on an individual, marital and family basis.
- 2. While eclectic approaches are utilized, most techniques employed are cognitive-behavioral techniques, supported by research.
- 3. Areas of therapy include but are not limited to depression, anxiety, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Attention deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD/ADD), adjustment and stress issues, coping and bereavement counseling as well as certain phobias.
